Pr. Abdoulaye NDIAYE

With a distinguished trajectory at the crossroads of international finance, development and political economy, Abdoulaye NDIAYE is widely recognized for his insightful analyses on economic sovereignty and financial governance. He combines academic excellence, institutional expertise and a strong commitment to Africa’s development. His journey, from École Polytechnique de Paris to New York University, reflects a path marked by rigor, excellence and meaningful impact.

An Assistant Professor of Economics at New York University since 2019, he conducts research in macroeconomics, public economics, development and political economy.

He was trained at École Polytechnique in Paris and later at Northwestern University, where he built a strong expertise in quantitative modeling and public policy analysis, completing a highly regarded dissertation on optimal taxation and pension systems. His academic trajectory also includes visiting positions at leading institutions such as the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago, Yale University, and the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago, Minneapolis and Atlanta, strengthening his integration into international research networks.

Author of around twenty scientific publications, including several articles in top international journals, he has also co‑authored numerous working papers and policy papers disseminated by CEPR, NBER, the Federal Reserve System and other major institutions.

Beyond academia, Abdoulaye NDIAYE has significant institutional experience. In 2021, he served as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation of Senegal, contributing to strategic work on economic sovereignty, development financing and financial governance. He also worked as a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, deepening his expertise in monetary policy, labor markets and macro‑financial dynamics.

Today, he stands among a new generation of African intellectual leaders able to navigate academic, institutional and policy spheres while advancing an ambitious vision for Africa in a rapidly shifting global landscape.
